Health, Healing and Awareness: A Yoga Nidra Series

With Laura DeFreitas

contrasts_in_sandYoga Nidra is a form of self-inquiry that provides us with a framework for going beyond our own self-limiting beliefs. It allows us to achieve deep physical and mental relaxation, eliminate stress, solve personal and interpersonal problems, and overcome emotions such as fear, anxiety and depression. Yoga Nidra, or conscious sleep, is a play on words implying that most individuals are ‘asleep' to their True Nature of love, creativity, wisdom and abundance. The yogi, on the other hand, is one who is awake to True Nature even when the mind is in the state of sleep.

During Yoga Nidra we enter progressive states of relaxation while remaining aware and alert.  This in-depth process reveals an inherent wisdom that already knows the exact solutions to the challenges we face in daily life.  Yoga Nidra teaches us how to remain firmly grounded in the equanimity and clarity of True Nature while living amidst the complexities of life.

This series will explore the six layers of our being. It will start with the gross physical body and move into subtler energetic bodies in order to release mental, emotional and behavioral patterns that no longer serve us. Each session will begin with a brief discussion and will include a full yoga asana and yoga nidra practice.  No previous yoga or meditation experience is required.  Resources will be provided for home practice and those registered for the series receive a discount on Laura's Yoga Nidra audio CD.  No previous yoga or meditation experience required.
