winterdepressionYoga for the Winter Blues with Nicole Farmer and Jodi Wellman

"Inside each of us, there's a continual autumn. Our leaves fall and are blown out over the water.  A crow sits in the blackened limbs and talks about what's gone. There's a necessary dying, and then Jesus is breathing again.  Very little grows on jagged rock. Be ground. Be crumbled, so wildflowers will come up where you are" ~Rumi

Winters in Seattle are long dark months that perpetuate a city-wide movement towards hibernation. Often, this time elicits the sensation of separation: separation from the sun, from community, and commonly, a separation from a known sense of self.

Yoga translated means "to unite" or "union". The term Yoga is also described as the joining of the atma (self) with the paramatma (the infinite). Through invigorating asana flow, empowering pranayama (breath practice), and grounding meditation, the truth that we are all:ways connected with our essential Selves will be uncovered. In a supportive, comfortable and sacred environment we will stoke the flame within, cultivating a sense of deep compassion and recognizing the truth that we are all capable of healing our selves and living fully and joyfully regardless of the darkness outside.
