We aren't the only ones to honor our inner fools at the beginning of April. The Romans had a festival named Hilaria involving games and masquerades; the Hindu calendar has Holi, during which people playfully throw colored water at one-another; and the Jewish calendar has Purim, commemerated with parades and costumes. Be sure to bring the playfulness of the season to your yoga mat. Cultivating a sense of lightheartedness will allow you to deepen your yoga practice.

Upcoming Workshops
Yoganatomy and Asana: Upper Body on Saturday, April 5th with Michael
Have you ever wondered just what the SI joint is, what the Sacrum looks like or why muscles feel achy when stretched? When doing a backbend why is it just as important to open the hip flexors as it is the shoulders? Using charts and models, we will study anatomy and apply what we've learned to yoga practice. The upper body workshop will include bones and muscules of the spine, ribcage, shoulders, neck, head, arms, hands and upper internal organs.
This workshop applies to Yogalife's September 2008-May 2009 Teacher Training Program. If you're interested in participating in the Teacher Training Program, please e-mail Michael.
Yoga for Runners on Saturday, April 19th with Jennie
Do you like to run? Are you interested in developing balance in your body? Yoga is a wonderful companion to running, hiking, biking, and other physical activities. Through a yoga practice suitable for all levels, we will open and engage the primary muscles used in running as well as the secondary "support" muscles; work toward balance in our physical structures; learn post-run stretches; and accquaint ourselves with breath and meditation techniques that will help with pre-race jitters or keep you motivated and connected as you run around the lake.
Yoga Nidra for Fertility on Saturday, May 17th with Laura
Join Laura DeFreitas for a special Yoga Nidra class for women in all stages of the journey into motherhood. During Yoga Nidra we enter progressive states of relaxation, self-inquiry and meditation while remaining alert. This technique provides us with a framework for going beyond self-limiting beliefs in order to experience the joy that is our birthright. Yoga Nidra is especially suited for women experiencing high levels of physical and emotional stress in their journey to conceive.
Restorative Yoga on Saturday, May 31st with Lisa
One of the most beneficial aspects of a yoga practice is learning how to rest. Restorative Yoga takes us deep inside to connect with our own creativity and helps heal the effects of chronic stress. This workshop will include meditation, pranayama (breathing techniques), and restorative yoga postures to harmonize body, breath, mind and spirit. Come celebrate the longer, lighter days of summer with a with a rejuvenating practice that allows for stillness and deep relaxation. All levels.
