Upcoming Workshops
Yoga and Self Image on Saturday, March 15th with Heather
Yoga can help us to identify self-destructive thought patterns that reinforce negative images we have of our bodies. Through meditation, pranayama breathing, chanting and asana, we will explore our self-perceptions. With svadhyaya (self reflection) and ahimsa (non-violence) we will learn to nurture our inner beauty and strength.
AcroYoga on Saturday, March 22nd with eZa
AcroYoga blends the spiritual wisdom of yoga, the loving-kindness of Thai massage, and the dynamic power of acrobatics. These three ancient lineages form the foundation of a unique new practice that cultivates trust, connection and playfulness. Join eZa as you connect to one another through ceremony, asana, partner flow, and Thai massage.
Yoganatomy and Asana: Upper Body on Saturday, April 5th with Michael
Have you ever wondered just what the SI joint is, what the Sacrum looks like or why muscles feel achy when stretched? When doing a backbend why is it just as important to open the hip flexors as it is the shoulders? Using charts and models, we will study anatomy and apply what we've learned to yoga practice. The upper body workshop will include bones and muscules of the spine, ribcage, shoulders, neck, head, arms, hands and upper internal organs.
This workshop applies to Yogalife's September 2008-May 2009 Teacher Training Program. If you're interested in participating in the Teacher Training Program, please e-mail Michael.
Yoga for Runners on Saturday, April 19th with Jennie
Do you like to run? Are you interested in developing balance in your body? Yoga is a wonderful companion to running, hiking, biking, and other physical activities. Through a yoga practice suitable for all levels, we will open and engage the primary muscles used in running as well as the secondary "support" muscles; work toward balance in our physical structures; learn post-run stretches; and accquaint ourselves with breath and meditation techniques that will help with pre-race jitters or keep you motivated and connected as you run around the lake.
