spring_flowers_t1669Slender daffodils are brightening neighborhood gardens, Greenlake's dogwood trees are budding, the days are getting longer, and the sun has finally returned. Yoga encourages us to be mindful of this gentle shift into a new season.  It nurtures us as we let go of winter's dormancy, put down roots, and begin to grow.  We look forward to seeing you at both of our studios this spring.  In addition to our regularly-scheduled classes, we are offering a number of exciting workshops; several new classes; a retreat on beautiful Orcas Island; and free community events.  Visit our website for up-to-date information!

Upcoming Workshops

yoganatomy_lowerYoganatomy and Asana: Lower Body THIS Saturday, March 1st with Michael
Have you ever wondered just what the SI joint is, what the Sacrum looks like or why muscles feel achy or intense when stretched? When doing a backbend why is it just as important to open the hip flexors as it is the shoulders? Using charts and models, we will study anatomy and apply what we've learned to yoga practice.  The Lower Body workshop will include bones and muscles of the hips, pelvis, legs, knees, ankles, feet and lower abdominal organs.

Yoganatomy and Asana: Upper Body will be offered on April 5th. Both Yoganatomy and Asana workshops apply to Yogalife's September 2008-May 2009 Teacher Training Program.  If you're interested in participating in the Teacher Training Program, please e-mail Michael .

Yoga and Self Image on Saturday, March 15th with Heather
heatheryogalifeYoga can help us to identify self-destructive thought patterns that reinforce negative images we have of our bodies.  Through meditation, pranayama breathing, chanting and asana, we will explore our self-perceptions.  With svadhyaya (self reflection) and ahimsa (non-violence) we will learn to nurture our inner beauty and strength.

AcroYoga on Saturday, March 22nd with eZa
acroyoga4AcroYoga blends the spiritual wisdom of yoga, the loving-kindness of Thai massage, and the dynamic power of acrobatics.  These three ancient lineages form the foundation of a unique new practice that cultivates trust, connection and playfulness.  Join eZa as you connect to one another through ceremony, asana, partner flow, and Thai massage.

Upcoming Series

Health, Healing and Awareness: A Yoga Nidra Series with Laura beginning March 14th
arch_of_the_snail.jpgYoga Nidra is a form of self-inquiry that provides us with a framework for going beyond our own self-limiting beliefs. This series will explore the six layers of our being. It will start with the gross physical body and move into subtler energetic bodies in order to enable us to release mental, emotional and behavioral patterns that no longer serve us.

Intro to Yoga: A Six-Week Series
Know someone who's interested in beginning a yoga practice? Our next intro series sessions begin on Thursday, April 3rd (Greenlake) and Sunday, April 6th (Greenlake and Queen Anne).  Visit our website for details.
