Born into Brothels
directors Ross Kauffman & Zana Briski
Award-winning documentary Born into Brothels is the portrait of a group of children who live in the red-light district of Calcutta, where their mothers work as prostitutes. Photographer Zana Briski befriends and teaches the children to capture their lives using cameras, and through the prism of their words and images we glimpse their salient perspectives as we witness both subjects and filmmakers being affected by their evolving relationship to each other, their respective worlds, and art.
Hailed as "deeply moving and inspiring" but open to critique, here's a chance to view a film that the Los Angeles Times argues, "will reorder the worldview of whoever sees it."
